Director of Surgical Pathology

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Louisville invites nominations and applications for an innovative and charismatic leader as Director of Surgical Pathology. The department is a national leader in Digital Pathology and AI and has recently transitioned to 100% digital workflow.

Surgical Pathology is experiencing a period of robust growth as University of Louisville Health System continues to grow and expand market share.

The successful candidate will coordinate the activities of surgical pathology across multiple sites, continue the enhancement of subspecialty sign out, and maximize the delivery of precision medicine.

The candidate should be a collaborative leader who is able to navigate a highly matrixed academic medical center and work closely with hospital administration in fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

A track record of publications demonstrating clinical and scientific accomplishments and robust collaborations is most desirable.

  • The candidate should have a strong interest in developing academic programs in pathology, maintaining scholarly activities
  • The applicant must be board certified in anatomic pathology or combined anatomic and clinical pathology
  • Must be qualified for an unrestricted medical license in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
  • The academic rank, tenure, and salary will be based upon the level of qualifications, experience, and scholarly accomplishments.
  • The compensation package is highly competitive.

The Division of Anatomic Pathology is supported by several research and diagnostic laboratories on campus, including strong core instrument and research facilities. The AP laboratories across campus have recently undergone co-location and consolidation and have been outfitted with state-of-the-art instrumentation.
