Neurology Advanced Practice Provider Manager Role Scope

Primary responsibilities include:

Working clinically as part of the stroke service care delivery team at Hartford Hospital

Management & oversight of Stroke/Neurology APP team

Oversees day to day operations of stroke APP team, in collaboration with APP Clinical Leader/Educator

Participation in oversight of adherence and maintenance of Comprehensive Stroke Center Accreditation, in collaboration with Stroke Medical Director, Stroke Coordinators, and multidisciplinary care team, including quality of care measures and review.

Collaboration with other departments caring for stroke patients (incl. ED, Interventional Radiology, ICU, etc.)

Leads collaborative initiatives to improve delivery of care, reduce length of stay, and improve patient experience, in collaboration with physicians, nursing, residents, and other care teams.

Participation in System-Wide Clinical Councils, guiding changes in care delivery, adoption of innovation, and oversight of clinical quality.

Works with AP Clinical Leader/AP Educator to develop orientation and continuing education for AP team

Leads recruitment and Hiring/Onboarding of new APPs within the department

Oversees financial performance (billing, expense management) of APP team

Establishes performance expectations; coaches, develops, and evaluates performance to enable AP employees to be successful in contributing to the achievement of individual and department objectives.

Contributes to the development of meaningful goals and objectives for the department that align with the strategic direction of the organization by analyzing needs and developing recommendations. Communicates the goals and objectives to the staff and monitors progress during the year.

Oversees AP scheduling and resource utilization in collaboration with residency (if applicable). Oversees payroll activities

The Advanced Practice (AP) providers are part of a multidisciplinary team that plans and delivers care for neurology, stroke and other complex disorders affecting blood supply to the brain and spinal cord, including brain aneurysms, carotid artery disease, cervical artery dissection, vascular malformations and other disorders of the nervous system under the direction of the attending physicians at Hartford Hospital.

Responsibilities include managing multiple patients with stroke and TIA, ordering and interpretation of diagnostic results, managing medications, dictation of clinic notes, patient/family education, clinical partnering with technicians, nursing and therapy colleagues, attending multidisciplinary meetings.

Qualifications

Advanced Practitioner Qualifications

Ideal candidates for this role will be graduates of accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Master's programs, licensed or eligible to be licensed in Connecticut.

Board Certification as an acute care nurse practitioner or Physician Assistant is required, along with minimum 5 years of prior experience in neurology or stroke care.

Prior leadership/managerial experience of APP team preferred
