Cardiac Catheterization Lab Medical Director

The University of Virginia's Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, led by Christopher M. Kramer, MD, is nationally recognized for excellence in clinical care, research, and teaching. The department is hiring an Interventional Cardiologist to direct the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at the UVA Heart & Vascular Center.

Position Details:

• Provide clinical, administrative, research, and educational oversight of the catheterization laboratory and physician, nursing, and technical staff.
• Provide clinical service in outpatient clinics and on inpatient units.
• Performing invasive/interventional cardiovascular procedures, with an emphasis on diagnostic catheterization and coronary intervention, as well as providing care for patients with STEMI, acute coronary syndromes and cardiogenic shock.
• Participate in clinical research programs, both independently and as part of multicenter trials, and will participate in the teaching program with cardiology fellows and medical house staff.

Qualifications:

• Candidates must have an MD or equivalent.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills and have demonstrated a solid background and interest in clinical research both independently and as part of multicenter trials.
• *Candidates with additional interest in peripheral vascular interventions, cardiac critical care and cardiogenic shock/mechanical circulatory support will be of particular interest.
• *Candidates with expertise in maintaining and expanding our chronic total occlusion and complex coronary disease program will also be of interest.
• Strong academic portfolio demonstrating ongoing scholarly productivity, should have recognition on the national level, as well as involvement in professional societies and should have strong educational skills, as they will be expected to participate heavily in the numerous teaching activities at our Institution
